34th Annual Exhibition of the Pastel Society of Victoria ‘Pastels with Passion’

The Pastel Society of Victoria, Australia (also known as the PSVA) has been holding Annual Exhibitions since its inception in 1986. The Annual Exhibition is designed to showcase the talents & skills of the members of the Society and the quality of the works exhibited is extremely high.

In 2020 they held their Annual Exhibition online for the first time and hosted it through Gallery247.

In 2021 the Exhibition will be held online and if restrictions permit at the Australian Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA) in Camberwell, Victoria.

The South Coast Pastel Society 2021 Exhibition and Competition is the society’s premier event for the year with high quality artists entering works in four categories: Landscape; Seascape; Flora/Fauna and Still life/Interior, and this year’s judge is highly-regarded Narooma artist Janet Jones.

The winners and runners up in each category will be awarded cash prizes generously provided by the society’s loyal sponsors. All paintings will also be considered for the highly prized “Best in Show” award whilst visitors to the exhibition will also have the opportunity to nominate their favourite painting for the “People’s Choice Award”. Entry is by gold coin donation with the proceeds going to the Surf Club

Day 1 and 2 – Still Life.
Day 3 – The Passage of Light on Portrait.
Day 4 – The Passage of Light Through the Dreamscape.
Day 5 – Finishing the Pastel works of your choice.

We begin our journey of discovery by studying the passage of light across objects on the surface, that is set up as a Still Life study.
Join Grace in studying contour drawing, form, tone, and colour including high chroma placement, layering techniques and photographic sessions. We will have a session using gold leaf if anyone would like to incorporate this into their work.
If used with discretion Gold, Silver or Irridised Leaf can make a good image amazing!

You are cordially invited to an exhibition of the past and present students of Grace Paleg, some of whom have been exhibiting since the opening of the Studio Gallery 25 years ago. It has been said that they listen to Grace for a while and then continue on their own Art Journey. Because of this, there is wide variety of style, genre and mediums within the exhibition. A stairlift is available for those who require.

The Goulburn & District art society has a membership of dedicated artists whose aim is to foster art in the Goulburn and surrounds. It does this through regular painting days, workshops and exhibitions thus encouraging artists in their endeavours and drawing art to the attention of the general public.
